Open SQL Configuration Manager:

Enable the following protocols for the instance:
TCP/IP
Named Pipes
Shared Memory
Don't enable VIA protocol
Enable the following client protocols:
TCP/IP
Named Pipes
Shared Memory
Don't enable VIA protocol
The default port to connect to SQL is 1433, you can change it in TCP/IP Properties

You should reset SQL service to apply changes
Open Surface Configuration:

Select "Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections" and then go to "Remote Connections"

Select "Using both TCP/IP and Named Pipes"
Everything should be right now to allow Remote Connections to databases in SQL 2005
To change SID on Windows Server 2008 you must use "Sysprep"
To logout from a session:
Command: exit
Keyboard Combination: CTRL + D
